Thursday, September 15, 2011The Conservatives Song:
Hey Mr.
Congressman,
I can’t find a job and my mortgage is due.
I’m sick as a dog and my insurance is gone.
Tell me Sir, what am I gonna do?
“Cut Tax and Kill the Regulations.”
The roads in
my town are potholed and dangerous;
The water’s polluted and the schools are a mess.
We can’t breathe the air ‘cause the smog is so plenteous.
The beaches are closed ‘cause they’re oil-slicked more or less –
Tell me Sir, what are you gonna do?
“Cut Tax and
Kill the Regulations.”
The rich are
getting richer and the poor poorer;
The banks own all the houses, the shelters are filling up;
The middle class will soon be a goner,
As the banks pile up cash and businesses don’t hire,
Do you know Sir when’s the bleeding gonna stop?
“Cut Tax and
Kill the Regulations.”
Drugs are so
costly, the sick can’t afford them.
My future is bleak ‘cause my college loan’s defunded.
Head Start’s on the chopping block and Pell Grant’s deceased;
My hope for an education is on the decrease.
Mr. Congressman, Please tell me what are we to do?
“Cut Tax and
Kill the Regulations.”
The forests
are ablaze, the landscape’s a desert;
Hurricanes are slamming us from Florida to Maine.
Tremors are shaking where they never shook before,
Tornadoes pulverize towns and pieces fall like rain.
Some who know say it’s global warming,
You say “That’s a Hoax”,
But tell me Mr. Congressman what to say to anxious folks.
“Cut Tax and
Kill the Regulations.”
Mr.
Congressman, your friends have ninety-three percent of the wealth
And you are only 20 percent of the people.
We, the bottom eighty have to make do with only 7.
You say if we cut your tax and kill the regulations,
The good life will trickle down to us.
But Mr. Congressman, Your friends say, “Let’s pay a little more,
It won’t hurt us -- It won’t clean the store”.
So what will you do Sir, ‘cause your friends want to help?
“Cut Tax and
Kill the Regulations.”
So Sir, Let
me see if I understand you clearly:
To improve the economy -- “Cut Tax and Kill the Regulations.”
To improve the environment -- “Cut Tax and Kill the Regulations.”
To better education -- “Cut Tax and Kill the Regulations.”
To ensure better health -- “Cut Tax and Kill the Regulations.”
To save the middle-class -- “Cut Tax and Kill the Regulations.”
To provide jobs -- “Cut Tax and Kill the Regulations.”
And when all
the taxes have been cut and all the regulations killed,
What then, Mr. Congressman do we do with you”
“Cut Tax and
Kill the Regulations.”
